Ocean Class
Ocean Class is made up of eight wonderful children; five boys and three girls. We learn through the Brooklands Blue Pathway, which you can read more about on our Blue Curriculum page.
Our class team includes a teacher, one LTA, and four Teaching Assistants who all work together to support the children’s learning.
We begin each day with our morning mile, reading time, and sensory circuits. This is followed by a Zones of Regulation check‑in and our daily Maths Meeting, all of which help us get ready for a successful day of learning. We absolutely love exploring our themed curriculum; this term’s theme is Amazing Me!
Each week, we plan a themed “hook,” which forms our short‑term planning. These hooks link to our overall topic, the class IPP targets, and the individual interests of our pupils. Creating exciting, meaningful, and engaging activities is really important to us, we want every lesson to capture our children’s attention and offer an irresistible invitation to learn.
The children in Ocean Class are working hard to develop their social and independence skills. Our mornings focus on Phonics (using the Read Write Inc. programme) and Maths (following the Maths Mastery approach). In the afternoons, we enjoy a wide range of enriching activities including swimming, music, art, PE, soft play, and outdoor learning.
