Welcome to Ocean Class! 🌊🐠

Ocean Class is a happy, nurturing and exciting place to learn, where every child is encouraged to shine, celebrate their achievements and reach their full potential. Our class is made up of eight wonderful children..... four boys and four girls who follow the Brooklands Blue Pathway. Our dedicated class team consists of a teacher, two LTA's (Pt) and three Teaching Assistants. Together, we create a supportive, engaging and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn.

A Day in Ocean Class

We start each morning with our welcome activities, reading time and sensory circuits to help us feel energised and ready for the day ahead. We then enjoy our Zones of Regulation check-in and daily Maths Meeting, developing our emotional awareness, communication and early mathematical skills.

Our mornings focus on Phonics, using the Read Write Inc. programme, and Maths, following the Maths Mastery approach. Throughout the day, we provide opportunities to develop communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.

Learning Through Exploration

We love bringing learning to life through our exciting themed curriculum! This term, our topic is Out and about!

Each week, we introduce a new themed 'hook' designed to spark curiosity, capture imaginations and inspire a love of learning. Our activities are carefully planned around our curriculum topic, class IPP targets and, most importantly, the individual interests and needs of our children.

We believe that learning should be meaningful, hands-on and full of opportunities to explore, discover and succeed. From sensory experiences and creative activities to practical challenges and play-based learning, we aim to make every day an irresistible invitation to learn.

Our afternoons are filled with enriching experiences, including swimming, music, art, PE, soft play and outdoor learning. These opportunities help our children build confidence, develop friendships, practise new skills and become increasingly independent.

Above all, Ocean Class is a place where we celebrate individuality, encourage curiosity and recognise every achievement, no matter how big or small.
