Core Word of the Week

We are focusing in school on a specific word each week that can be used across all lessons and social times. All adults will be modelling the use of the word and showing the students visuals to help them understand it.

They will also be giving the children opportunities to use the word themselves. For some that will be saying the word, some may use the Makaton sign and some might use a symbol.

We would love for you to support this at home as well if possible. Show them the symbol and do the sign as you say the word. We have included the symbol, Makaton sign and some ideas on how to model it to your child. If they have a device or PODD book then use this. There will be an ALD board attached to the first week email that can be used as well. Use what is most appropriate for your child and please ask class if you are not sure.
