Dinosaur Class
Welcome to Dinosaur Class!
There are eight children in Dinosaur Class, including six boys and two girls. Our class is based at the Brooklands Alexander Road site.
We are supported by a fantastic team. Sophie is our class teacher and works in Dinosaur Class on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Alice is our Developing Teacher and works full time with the class. We are also supported by our lead teaching assistant, Lara, and teaching assistant, Ryan, who help us throughout the school day.
Dinosaur Class is a busy, exciting and nurturing place to be! We are always on the go and enjoy taking part in a wide range of activities and learning experiences.We follow the Brooklands Green Curriculum pathway, with learning opportunities carefully planned around the needs and interests of our children. Within Dinosaur Class, we use an ASD-specific approach to learning, blending therapeutic input, sensory activities and more formal learning opportunities.
Learning and Communication
We use lots of different ways to communicate and support our understanding, including AAC devices, ALD boards, signing, symbols, body language and our voices. As a class, we are working hard to develop our communication, attention and engagement skills, while continuing to build our turn-taking, sharing and social interaction skills.
We particularly enjoy activities that allow us to explore, move, communicate and learn together. Some of our favourite activities include Attention Autism sessions, cooking and food exploration, sensology, music and singing, sensory exploration and tactile play, as well as physical activities such as swimming, soft play and horse riding.
This Autumn Term, we will be exploring a wide range of exciting themes and experiences. These will give us opportunities to learn about ourselves, the people and places around us, and the wider world.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled Autumn Term packed with learning, exploration, communication, sensory experiences and lots of exciting opportunities to develop our skills together!
