Kiwi Class
Welcome to Kiwi Class!
Within Kiwi class there are eight children, seven boys and one girl. Our class is based at Brooklands Wray Park site. We have a teacher (Abbie), a Lead Teaching Assistant (Emma R), and four TA's (Emma M, Osa, Penny and a vacancy) who help us learn.
We follow the Brooklands green pathway which you can read about on the "Green pathway" page. Within Kiwi class we have an ASD-specific approach to learning, blending therapeutic input with sensory activities and learning opportunities. We are working hard to develop our engagement in adult-led activities, a wider range of small group activities and to increase our understanding of the world around us.
If you would like to contact us, our email address is: kiwiclass@brooklands.surrey.sch.uk
Kiwi class is a very fun and busy place to be! We are always on the go and enjoy doing lots of activities with our friends. We love being at school and engaging in physical activities such as swimming, soft play and exploring the sensory garden. Some of our favourite activities include Irresisible Input sessions, which include Attention Autism, sensory stories and massage dance sessions. We also love music & singing as well as sensory exploration/tactile play. If you'd like to see what a typical week in Kiwi class looks like please see our timetable below.
In Kiwi class we use lots of different methods of communication including signing, symbols, body language, electronic AAC devices and our voices. As a class, we are working really hard to develop our communication, extend our attention and engagement skills and further develop our turn taking, sharing and social interaction skills.
Throughout the Autumn term we are learning about a wide range of fun things...
